From the backcover;

'This story is about my journey of discovering and studying Jewish history of approximately the last hundred years. I have met many interesting people along the way and I want to share my experiences, encounters and things learned here with you. A big part within this book tells the story of Mr. Hersh Makowski. He was able to escape Nazi persecution, survived an impossible and dangerous long journey on 'illegal' immigrant ships, got intercepted and imprisoned by the British, was part of the only official Jewish Allied fighting force during World War II; The 'Jewish Brigade Group', and participated in Israel's War of Independence in 1948.

Hersh shared his story with me and I feel honored to be able to share it with you. Besides gaining a wonderful friendship with Hersh, I got to meet a lot more wonderful people within the local Jewish community. With my long time interest I am honored that for the first time ever, I am able to share it with others and hopefully get more people informed about some of the achievements of the Jewish Brigade, the life of Hersh Makowski, and more familiar with some of the interesting and amazing history of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.Thank you for your interest and I hope you will find it as intriguing and educational as I do'.

-A Journey through Jewish History, part 2

Released August 2014. 317 pages, 100+ photographs. Available in soft/hardcover,

and as a download (PDF) for your digital device.

From the backcover;

'In this second book by Wim Leydes, we follow him as he continues with his Jewish Journey. We will be walking in his footsteps as he takes us on his trip to Israel, via his vividly described journal. He will take us through his encounters with Holocaust survivors and Partisan fighters, inform us of some highly interesting visits of Jewish notables to Milwaukee, WI and leads us once again through his educational Jewish journey by describing closely his connection to, and his passion for, the Jewish people, Jewish culture and history and the Land of Israel.

His seemingly never ending energy for trying to make sure the world will not forget about the heroic Jewish fighters and forgotten heroes, is again being reflected by this book, and shows by his efforts and accomplishments described in this continuation of one man's mission to preserve Jewish history, to remember and honor, educate and share, or as he calls it himself, his Jewish Journey'

My Jewish Journey Pt. III

-A Continuation of the Journey and uncovering Family History-

Released June 2019. 270 pages, 100+ photographs. Available in soft/hardcover,

and as a download (PDF) for your digital device.

From the backcover;

"This third volume of Wim Leydes' Jewish Journey brings again lesser known chapters of WW2 and the Holocaust to our attention. Follow him in this journey through history with exciting new exhibits he created and attended and some

of the encounters he had with some remarkable names. He writes about the hardship of losing his dear friend, Mr. Hersh Makowski, who was a tremendous part of the previous two books and his life. He further engages with us when he meets with one of his heroes, takes us with as he returns to his native country of Holland; the sights and the stories he found there, as well as his most personal story; the uncovering of his own formerly unknown family history during the war years.

More then this, you'll also read about his further contributions to the Jewish community with presentations and exhibits, as well as his continuing support for Israel, the Jewish people along with his drive to keep the memories alive of the victims of the Holocaust, and also of it's heroes, survivors and fighters.
Captured once again, in a journal like style, he draws us in to some remarkable stories of history,

To Remember, to Honor, to Educate and Share.''
